The newspaper of the Forward Deployed Engineer

About FDE Times

The newspaper of the Forward Deployed Engineer, for FDEs and the engineers becoming them, wherever they work.

Why FDE Times exists

A Forward Deployed Engineer takes a product into real use at a customer: writing code, connecting data, sitting with users and staying accountable until the system works. AI companies are hiring for this role at pace, but good material on how to do it well is scattered. FDE Times exists so engineers everywhere can understand the work, learn the right skills and find the jobs. It is published in English, with a Vietnamese edition.

How we report

  1. Sources first, story second. Every piece starts by gathering facts from at least two independent sources. The sources are listed at the end of each article.
  2. Only what the sources say. Every factual sentence must trace back to a source; opinion and advice are written as opinion and advice.
  3. Independent checking. Each piece is checked against its sources, scored on clear criteria (accuracy, clarity, usefulness to engineers) and revised before it runs. Pieces that fall short are not published.
  4. No invented bylines. Articles carry the name of their section. We do not create profiles of writers who do not exist.
  5. Corrections in the open. When we find a mistake, we fix the article.
