FDE Times Hiring Tracker data shows 631 open Forward Deployed Engineer roles on 1 November 2026, down from 634 on 26 October 2026. The small move in the total conceals a far busier week: companies posted 66 new roles and took down 75, against 23 and 37 the week before.

The closing figure includes 6 roles that entered the count because the boards of 3 companies started being tracked: CrossCountry Consulting, P-1 AI and Red Cell Partners. That is wider coverage, not hiring growth. Leaving those roles out, the count fell by 9, after a fall of 14 in the previous period.

## Postings and closures both rose while the open count barely moved

The real change lies in the flows. The week of 19 October to 25 October 2026 brought 23 new roles and 37 closures; the week of 26 October to 1 November 2026 brought 66 and 75. With 2 comparable periods on record, this is a change between 2 weeks rather than an established pattern.

Roles taken down during the week had been open for a median of 22 days, counted from the posting date the company gives. The number of companies with open FDE roles went from 96 to 95, with 12 companies gaining roles and 14 losing them. Since tracking began on 7 October 2026, 102 companies have shown at least 1 FDE role.

## Salesforce posted 28 of the 66 new roles; Databricks fell furthest

Salesforce stands out for turnover: 28 new roles and 29 closed, while its open count moved from 33 to 32. Databricks closed 13 roles and posted 4, falling from 123 to 114, the largest drop among companies whose count changed.

Databricks remains the largest employer on the tracker at 114, followed by Palantir at 106, a figure that did not change during the week. OpenAI rose from 31 to 32, level with Salesforce at 32.

Among the risers, Clay went from 3 to 6 open roles, with 3 new and none closed. Analog Devices went from 3 to 5, BlackRock from 1 to 3, and UiPath and Lovable each from 2 to 4. On the other side, Thomson Reuters went from 7 to 4, while Faculty, Asana, Flexport and Oscilar.com ended the week with 0 open roles.

## Methodology

- **Source:** the official careers boards (Greenhouse, Ashby, Lever) of companies that hire FDEs, read several times a day. Only roles whose title names forward deployed engineering or deployment strategy count; 102 companies have had at least one such role since tracking began.
- **Period:** 26 October 2026 to 1 November 2026, UTC.
- **New roles:** roles first seen on the board of a company that was already tracked. Roles from a company whose board was just added are wider coverage, not new hiring.
- **Closed roles:** roles the company took down. Days open are counted from the posting date the company gives.
- **Role type and seniority** are read from the job title; **region** from the location in the posting.
- **Pay:** only base-pay ranges published in US-located postings; the figure is the median of each range's midpoint.
